With full cast, the AEF – Spanische Weiterbildungsakademie e.V. is launching the first series of seminars and events for the project “Neue Heimat Bonn / Rhein Sieg” at the AEF site in Troisdorf. Funded by the Ministry of the Interior, the goal of this project is to empower migrants and volunteers in order to can act as integration guides and multipliers in their own communities.
The event has been organized in cooperation with migrant organizations of Palestinians, Moroccans and Syrians. In order to avoid communication problems between the different groups, the event was provided with an interpreter service Arabic-German.
Among the topics to be covered, this first date was used to identify those issues that most need to be worked on. Issues such as integration in the host country, housing, cohabitation, religion as well as vocational and educational perspectives were mentioned. It is noteworthy that all of these subjects were accorded the same importance by all participants regardless of their background, age or social status.
“Defining and understanding these basic issues is one of the main tasks in building and developing appropriate strategies for the benefit of different communities. Based on many years of working experience of the AEF – Spanische Weiterbildungsakademie e.V. with such projects, we can see that many of these problems are similar in the different migrant groups. This is exactly the point where we should and want to help as an institution for adult education, “explains Artur Kalnins, project manager of the AEF – Spanische Weiterbildungsakademie e.V.
Among the attendees there was a very positive evaluation of the seminar with a view to the effective use of such events and the desire to repeat them so that the issues dealt with could be addressed more profoundly.
